Chicago water tower sculptures

Chicago water towers have been a longstanding historical feature of our cities’ skyline. Mayor Daley made great attempts to keep these in place. I believe for sentimental reasons as they are noble, iconic structures.

Newer, more modern fire protection systems have rendered them obsolete. The city proffered ideas to retain them, but economic realities has led owners to remove them. There were efforts by the city to repurpose and competitions were held.

I think this sculpture could be an interesting opportunity, dynamically illuminated and seen for miles.
